BAKR’s unisex tee “Champa Poo” in Midnight Moon begins with a base print in rust black—created through a natural fermentation of iron rust and molasses. After an initial wash, the surface is hand-resisted twice using a traditional Japanese rice paste technique. The garment is then over-dyed in our 100% organic honey indigo vat, dipped and oxidised three times for exactly two minutes each.

The name “Champa Poo” comes from the Malayalam name for the Ceylon Ironwood flower, a bloom closely tied to the folklore of the Yakshi—an ethereal figure from old Malayalam ballads. Said to be graceful, intoxicating, and dangerous, the Yakshi is often preceded by the scent of Champa or Nagappoovu, lingering in the air like a warning or a spell.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This garment is hand printed and hand dyed in 100% handcrafted natural colours. Like a fine wine, it gets better with age; Faint bleeds and effects are its characters.

We recommend you hand-wash this garment separately in Luke warm water using mild detergents / delicate machine wash only.

DO NOT BLEACH / EXPOSE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT OR HEAT
